RUNNING NUMBER: This will be posted to you during the week commencing 11th March. If you don’t receive your Race Pack in the post, then please go to the Race HQ from 08:00 to get a replacement. You will need to show your entry receipt [  DOWNLOAD HERE  ].

 

RACE ROUTE
The BEDFORD 20 mile race will prepare you for your Spring Marathon experience without having to run on your own. You can enjoy the incredibly scenic and traffic free 2-lap course through stunning Bedfordshire countryside. The course is multi terrain with about 60-70% on cycle paths with some gravel paths and the remainder on grass. The BEDFORD 20 is a friendly event organised by runners for runners making sure you have the best day possible. The route will be clearly marked and marshaled.

This race is an ideal training run for anyone running the Brighton Marathon, London Marathon and/or MK Marathon.

COURSE ELAVATION
This course is predominantly flat.

TIMING
This event will be chip timed using state of the art disposable timing chips attached to the reverse of your running number. Sorry, no late starters.

 

RACE TIME LIMIT
The time limit to complete the race will be 5 hours. If a runner doesn’t reach Mile 18 in 4hrs 30mins they will be asked to withdraw from the race.

 

RACE PERMIT
Permit TRA/1583. The race will be run under UKA rules

 

GETTING TO PRIORY PARK

BUS: The Bus Service 4 between Bedford Town Centre and Goldington, via Wendover Drive, stops close to the entrance to Priory Park. Approx travel time 10mins.

TRAIN: Bedford train station is on the Midland Main Line from London St Pancras to the East Midlands.

PARKING: There will be no event parking at Priory Country Park so we suggest you car share where possible and park in Aspects Leisure Car Park (use McDonalds entrance Mk41 9LN). In addition, we have negotiated extra parking at the Bedford Stadium, just opposite the main car park. Please show caution crossing the road. For other parking suggestions please click [ HERE ]

BEDFORD 20 parking and walking route to the Event Village

BAGGAGE
There will be two large baggage tents numbered 1-600 and 601-1200 next to the Race HQ. Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Bags are left at your own risk.

 

CHANGING
There won’t be any dedicated changing facilities this year.

 

TERRAIN
The course is multi terrain with about 60-70% on cycle paths with some gravel paths and the remainder on grass. This race is not a road race and runners are to expect uneven paths.

 

REFRESHMENTS
The Cloverdale Retreat will open at 08:00 and is located near the Event Village. It offers a range of hot and cold drinks, cakes and savories.

Also, we will have some food vendors in the Event Village selling drinks and snacks.

 

WATER STOPS
There will be three water stops en route and one at the finish. Water will be given in plastic cups.
Water Stop 1: approx mile 3 and 12
Water Stop 2: approx mile 6 and 15
Water Stop 3: approx mile 9 and 18

There will be water, coke and crisps at the finish. Please put all rubbish in the large bins provided.

 

TOILETS
There will be portable toilets and urinal booths in the Event Village and on the course.

 

MERCHANDISE
You will be able to purchase merchandise during the registration process or at a later date as long as you do it before the event closes, by logging back into your Active account here: myevents.active.com. Merchandise purchases will be posted out monthly. You will also be able to buy merchandise at the Event Village on Race Day.

 

iTAB
iTab purchases will automatically be posted out a few days after the event. You do not need to do anything.

 

EVENT REGISTRATION
Need to update your registration, check you have entered, change your address or purchase merchandise after you have entered? Then visit myevents.active.com to manage your event registration. Registration will close at 5pm on Friday 8th March and no changes can be made after this time.

 

FINISHERS T-SHIRT
All finishers will receive a BEDFORD 20 Technical T-Shirt from S to XXL. Select your size when you enter.

 

FINISHERS MEDAL
All finishers will receive a cool BEDFORD 20 Race Medal. You can see the 2018 design below.

AWARDS
Presentation of the race awards will take place in the Event Village at 12:45.
Award categories are:

  • First 3 Men, plus MV40, MV50, MV60, MV70.
  • First 3 Ladies, plus FV35, FV45, FV55, FV65.
  • First team of 5 runners (can be mixed) from the same club.
    Runners may win more than one award.

 

NUMBER TRANSFERS
We allow number transfers up until 8th March @ 5pm. Please see FAQ #5

 

SPECTATORS
Spectators are welcome, but are reminded to stand clear of the route at all times and not to block the site entrance. Unfortunately there will be no spectator parking at Priory Country Park, so please see event parking above.

 

MINIMUM AGE
The minimum age for participants is 18 on race day.

 

REGISTRATION PROTECTION
You have the option to protect your booking with Booking Protect for a small fee at check out. Receive a full refund of the purchase price and processing fee should you be unable to attend the event due to a specified reason, such as:

  • Injury or illness
  • Vehicle breakdown or theft
  • Adverse weather resulting in travel warnings
  • Work relocation

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
All runners must be medically fit to compete and enter at their own risk and the organisers will in no way be held responsible for any injury, accident, loss or damage that may arise before, during or after the event as a consequence of their participation in this race. We do not offer refunds or deferrals under any circumstances. You can transfer your place – please see FAQS. No dogs or pushchairs are allowed.

 

IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY
The race director and the emergency services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
